Trashy but fun. If you want a serious gangster movie, watch L.A. Confidential, this however is a whole lot of pulpy silliness that was quite enjoyable. I don't really go in for gangster stuff but this wasn't taking itself very seriously so it was easy to go along with.

Ruben Fleischer assembled a pretty swanky cast and they all look like they're having fun. And it looks very pretty. Although there is something very disconcerting about that very digital wide shutter look on a period piece. It's not Public Enemies bad but it's close. I guess we should start getting used to it.

Josh Radnor has made a great little indie romance/comedy/drama thing. I very much enjoyed this one and was also impressed by Elizabeth Olsen and the great supporting cast he managed to assemble. 

SURPRISE ZAC EFRON!

And that's a big surprise, because surly if Zac Efron was in a film, you'd know about it beforehand, right? But then again, that's the joy of seeing these small releases without first looking up much about them. And that's how I suggest you watch this one. It's a pleasant little diversion from your day.

This is one of those movies that just has everything. Sci-fi creatures, 1950's black and white b-movie horror, 80's teen comedy, zombies and axe-wielding serial killers. The bluray has both endings too. Fantastic! Love this cult classic.

Oh man, that trailer haha. No wonder it didn't do well at theatres. But it's had a hell of a shelf life, despite the visually apparent budgetary constraints.

And it seems hard to believe to me but yes, there are still people out there that haven't seen this endearing cult classic. So it's a good thing I have the bluray on hand. But nothing will compare to watching this young and growing up with it.

William Goldman's story and Rob Reiner's film version are pretty charming. Classic stuff.

So I saw this again at IMAX HFR 3D. I gotta say I enjoyed the HFR much more this time. I don't know if it's because the 3D system is different, or the screen was bigger or I was just more prepared for what to expect, but it was definitely easier to swallow.

I think this and Kontroll are the only films from Hungary i've ever seen. This is surreal, horrifying and pretty funny too. Just bizarre. But well worth a look. 3 Generations of men from the same family, 3 stories. All very very odd. And apparently all representative of Hungary's history at the times represented, however I really don't know anything about the subtext, so all I'm going off is what I see. It's pretty incredible.

A beautiful and heartbreaking ghost story that's filled with beautiful visuals, great performances and real drama and scares. One of the best of the decade. Great to watch again, it's been long enough since I'd last seen it that I only vaguely remembered all the details. And then as they came back watching it I remembered just how great the end is. Another great Spanish horror.
