Hatchet 2 has just come out so I figured now is a good time for a double feature. Also my first time watching the directors cut of this.

It's Adam Green's breakout feature and although some of it is a little clunky, overall it's a great fun throwback to 80's slasher in the woods movies with a tone of gore.

Joel Moore, who went on to write and star in Spiral with Adam Green, is great in this as is Mercedes McNab playing a very similar character to her Harmony from the Buffy series. The film also has Freddy Kruger, Jason AND the Candyman.

It's short and sweet. I didn't notice much difference between the Directors cut and the original, but it has been quite a few years since I've seen it. It's a bit hoky at the beginning but great fun once the shit hits the fan. The ending is a classic out of nowhere cliffhanger, very Friday the 13th, so it's a good thing I have part 2 ready to go, which starts with a bang from the exact same shot part 1 finishes with.
