Well It's not a good film. I don't think anyone expected that. So much wasted cast, effects work, production design, lighting, even music. Those elements were really good, but the script is not. I think Jack Black does his best not to get too annoying, which is greatly appreciated but he's still required to deliver random pop culture references and a few rock songs that are painfully wedged in.
I loved the fake tilt-shit photography for the opening credits though. The rest of the time was just a pain, especially if you know anything about the original story.
